Southern Utah & Denver @ BYU Live Blog

Moving from the SEC to the American west in a Tri-meet at Brigham Young University with Denver and Southern Utah. BYU is in a good position this year, being solidly in the top 20 of the rankings and at this point, they're going to be shooting for a seeded position at regionals. Denver went up in the rankings this week, but their place depends on this road score, so it needs to be a good one tonight. I haven't seen much of Southern Utah this season, so not sure what to expect from them tonight. But this should be a really exciting meet. Follow along and refresh the page for updates! So it looks like BYU is starting on vault, Denver starts on floor, Southern Utah starts on bars They're each going one at a time tonight. So I'll be able to recount the action for you. Abbey Miner VT BYU - FTY, good distance, not a lot of height and big hop on landing. 9.75 Bitsy Robzsa UB SUU -  straddle hecht mt,  giant 1/2 + jaeger + bail, solid,  bit short on the las...

Power Rankings - The Procrastination Edition

Welcome to Power Rankings! First one of 2018. This is where I recap the most interesting parts of the week of competition and stack them against each other. This isn't real team rankings. This is ranking the newsworthy and the interesting stuff that goes on during the week. We now have two weeks of NCAA gymnastics under our belts, all the teams have shown up in competition. There was drama, tears laughter, falls and crazy scoring! I'm a total procrastinator, so I missed the first week (sorry). So this is the procrastination edition. Since I put this off for a couple of weeks, this might be short. (sorry) Let's discuss!

NCAA Coaches Pre-Season Poll

NCAA season is 24 days away and yesterday the NACGC/W preseason coaches' poll results were released. Claiming the top spot for another consecutive year is the reigning champions, Oklahoma. Denver received a boost from their 9th place finish to 8th. Florida beat out LSU for 2nd. Full results below the cut.

NCAA National Champs - Is it 2018 Yet?

The NCAA Gymnastics Championships has concluded for 2017. Thus begins the void between the end of NCAA season and the start of elite season heading in to world championships. I have been in St. Louis last weekend catching all the action. We're still 8 months out from the start of NCAA season in 2018, so lets take some time to recap real quick and provide some closing thoughts.

Denver @ Southern Utah Live Blog

It's a rare Monday live blog! Let this be a great start to your week with Denver at Southern Utah. Expect this to be another close meet! Refresh the page every five to ten minutes for updates.

Denver, UIC & Boise State @ Utah Live Blog

Now, we're traveling (virtually) to Salt Lake City for this Utah quad meet featuring Denver, University of Illinois-Chicago and Boise State. For Boise State, look out for New Zealand Gymnast, Courtney McGregor who competed in Rio this summer! For Denver, Maddie Karr is their freshman standout. She's an amazing gymnast and she owns the beam. Also look for Julia Ross, who has the toe point to die for. Also look for Sam Ogden and Courtney Loper, who are also amazing freshmen standouts. Refresh the page for the latest updates!

NCAA Gymnastics 2017 - Week 1 Preview

The 2017 NCAA gymnastics season is starting tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 6th.  Oh it's the best time of the year. Tons of great gymnastics every week. Here is a preview of what is to come this weekend. The meets are all listed on this page and when applicable, links for live scoring and broadcast/streaming are provided.  Friday Jan. 6th -  #10 Georgia @ # 2 LSU - 7 ET/ 6 CT/ 5 MT/ 4 PT This is an SEC powerhouse match-up. Georgia has a legacy behind them, with 10 NCAA titles under their belt. LSU came in 2nd last year behind Oklahoma, their best finish ever. No doubt they're looking to finally get that coveted NCAA title that has eluded them. Georgia should put up a good fight, but LSU is at home and they haven't lost at home since before Facebook existed. But who can remember a time before Facebook, am I right?

NCAA Power Rankings: Regionals Edition

Well, Regionals have happened... It was rough, I gotta tell you. I've had a couple days, and I feel like I've emotionally recovered enough to do Power Rankings Regionals Editions. Or maybe this is just therapy for me. As per usual, these aren't the official Road to Nationals rankings (or in this case the rankings after Regionals), rather they are stories and people that have caught my attention throughout the week, whether it be note-worthy events or a reaction to something. Previously for Conference Championships, the power rankings were: 1. UCLA's side eye inducing beam total 2. Peng Peng Is Injured...Again 3. Florida wins the SEC Championship; Coach Jenny Rowland has her Oscar Moment 4. Kaytianna McMillian of Oregon State does a hella cool back spin on floor 5. Zoe Draghi of Cal's funky floor choreography 6. No tens for you, Ebee Price or McKenzie Wofford With that, here are the Regionals Power Rankings:

Seattle Pacific, Denver @ Washington Live Blog

So the PAC 12 app is super screwy so no Georgia and Utah. Luckily, Washington has their own dedicated stream (yay Washington). It's their last home meet before they host PAC 12's next week. They are hosting a tri-meet with Denver and Seattle Pacific.  Hopefully, this meet puts Washington in a solid spot to qualify to regionals. It's senior night for Washington and honestly, I'm so depressed that Allie Northey is a senior this year. I will drown my sorrows with live blogging this meet! Refresh the page every 5-10 minutes for updates.

NCAA Power Rankings Week 9

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for NCAA Power Rankings. These aren't the official Road to Nationals rankings, rather they are stories and people that have caught my attention throughout the week, whether it be note-worthy events or a reaction to something. Last week, I talked about: # 1 LSU at Florida - Florida's home scoring benefits the visiting team, LSU # 2 Kelly Garrison's Oklahoma home meet commentary # 3 Maddie Gardiner is basically holding her whole team together # 4 Epic Beam Saves # 5 If Ebee Price Deserves a Traveling Group of Back-Up Dancers then Risa Perez deserves her own act in Vegas. # 6 Julia Ross of Denver FINALLY is Rewarded for her Glorious Beam Routine # 7 The Push to the Post Season Without further adieu, I present week 9 Power Rankings:

Minnesota, Denver @ Air Force Live Blog

Time for some live blogging! Sadly, due to unforseen circumstances, I am unable to live blog the Georgia, Stanford UCLA meet. Instead, I'm live blogging Denver, Minnesota at Air Force. On Friday, Denver beat Minnesota by 0.65, will they maintain dominance again tonight? Refresh the page every so often to find out.

NCAA Power Rankings Week 8

It's Tuesday and that means it's Power Rankings day. These are not the official rankings, but they are stories, people, topics and/or events that are interesting or worth talking about. To refresh, last week I talked about: #1 RQS #2 Southern Utah and Upsets in General #3 Joslyn Goings & Myia Hambrick and all underrated athletes #4 LSU's floor line-up #5 Ebee Price's back up dancers Without further pause, let's get into this week's NCAA power rankings,

Utah State @ Denver Live Blog

While the rest of Denver is gearing up for the Broncos' Super Bowl match up against the North Carolina Panthers. It's the true pride of Colorado, the University of Denver Gymnastics team will be facing off against the Utah State Aggies. Last week, the Pioneers got a season high of 196.125 against Bowling Green and jumped in the rankings to 13th. Can they do it again? Refresh the page every 5-10 minutes or so for updates!

2015 NCAA Gymnastics Regionals- National Qualifiers, Triumphs, Upsets and Surprises

Regionals happened. Eight straight hours of gymnastics from two o'clock in the afternoon till about ten at night. There were tears, screaming, punching and hitting things. So were my predictions head on? Should I go take my special skills to Vegas or should I keep my day job?

All About Regionals

Today, the top 36 NCAA Gymnastics teams will go head to head for a spot at the NCAA National Championships April 17-19. The teams have been seeded into "regionals" (not so much based on their region, but based on their rankings) based on their regional qualifying score or RQS. The top two qualifiers from each of the six regionals will go onto NCAA's in Dallas. So much gymnastics, this is what Spencer at the Balance Beam Situation is calling Gymnastics Christmas . I've gone through and to the best of my abilities,  I have picked my selections for the teams who will qualify out of their regional.  I have no real scientific analysis of who will win, so don't use my guesses to win money in Vegas... if they actually bet on gymnastics in Vegas.
