Flashback: Chuso at the 1996 Olympic Games

It's no secret that Oksana Chusovitina has an impressive gymnastics career that has spanned over 20 years. The 2012 London Olympics were her sixth Olympic games and she is making a bid for Rio in 2016 which will be her impressive seventh consecutive games.

Even more impressive, Chuso, my over 30 idol and my inspiration for hitting the gym, is a mother. Her son, Alisher is 14. She is one of only a select few gymnasts who returned to elite gymnastics after becoming a mother.

This video from the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta shows Chuso competing on the vault representing her home country, Uzebekistan. For a little geography lesson, see the handy dandy map below.

Want to have your mind blown even more? Here is Chuso scoring the silver medal on vault at her first world Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana and following is Chuso winning the silver medal at the Tokyo World Championships in 2011.

These women are tough for their perseverance, their bravery, and just generally being awesome.
