Gabby Wins BET Awards

Finally getting around to reporting this. My apologies.

Last Sunday, Gabby Douglas won two BET awards.

She took home the Young Stars Award and the Sportswoman of the year. It was a year ago that she was named to the Olympic team after beating national champion, Jordyn Wieber for the top spot and the only guaranteed spot on the team. Just a few weeks later, Gabby and the rest of the Fierce Five won the team gold medal with a nearly five point lead over Russia.

Way to go Gabby! She's had a whirlwind life ever since winning that title, with media interviews and appearances. She and team captain, Aly Raisman, attended the Golden Globe Awards among Hollywood elite. Gabby even got to guest star one of her favorite shows, The Vampire Diaries.

This is just icing on the cake for Gabby, who only two years ago, was really the USA Gymnastics underdog, just gaining attention for her amazing uneven bars work.

Hopefully, we will see some of that Gabby charm back on the USA Gymnastics scene here soon.

Congratulations Gabby!

Since this is a gymnastics blog, this article will focus on bad asses in the sport of gymnastics, particularly women in gymnastics. These women are tough for their perseverance, their bravery, and just generally being awesome.
