Vintage Aliya Mustafina FX - The Little Diva That Could

A video surfaced of Aliya Mustafina as a junior before her world championship win.

This is at the Doha Gymnasiade in 2009. So, Aliya was about 14 or 15 depending on what time of the year this meet was held (Aliya's birthday is September 30, making her 19 at the Worlds in Antwerp and 21 for the 2016 Rio Games).
The video by SportEverywhere is entitled "Aliya- Mustafina- What happened to this twisting form?". It features Aliya on the floor exercise.

She still has the same dramatic flair in her choreography. The obvious difference is Aliya's twisting form. In this video, it looks better, however, since this video is shot entirely at one angle, it's hard to tell the quality of her twisting execution. It looks better, however, it could still be as bad as it is today, just looks better from far away. Or maybe, she was just better at hiding her poor twisting form pre-injury.

Watch the glory of the little diva that could.

These women are tough for their perseverance, their bravery, and just generally being awesome.
