Team USA: Three All-Arounders

Inside Gymnastics has the official word from the team USA camp at worlds. Marta Karolyi has spoken and she is decreeing there will be three all-arounders.

Kyla Ross and Simone Biles will of course be doing the all-around as expected, but the third all-arounder will be McKayla Maroney. Surprising since she hasn't competed all-around since last year at Trials. At Classics and Championships, McKayla only competed floor exercise and vault, her best events. She has been training all-around during podium training at both events and during training in the Netherlands.

Since it is an individual only worlds, there is no team competition and the team can put up three athletes on each event. Marta told Inside Gymnastics that McKayla had showed consistent performances in training on the balance beam and the uneven bars. Brenna Dowell, who was chosen as the fourth gymnast for team USA will be an alternate.

These women are tough for their perseverance, their bravery, and just generally being awesome.
