Aliya Mustafina on Beam in Stuttgart

We know what Aliya Mustafina is thankful for this holiday season.

After her balance beam win at the World Championships, she's appeared to have gone back to the gym and added some upgrades to her routine. This is from the first day of the DTB Team competition and it's the qualification round. The first part of Aliya's routine is a little wobbly, but she manages to stay on and takes extra time on her connections and actually didn't go for a leap connection.

She picks up the pace a little bit during her switch half to Onodi combination. She added her double turn on the end of the connection like she had been doing earlier in the year. Aliya's also added a beautiful front acro series: two forward aerial walkovers connected to a split leap. She did play it a little bit safe, but her routine is just beautiful and she's looking fantastic. Plus, the deep violet leotard looks beautiful on her.

These women are tough for their perseverance, their bravery, and just generally being awesome.
