Aliya Mustafina to Take A Break?

Aliya Mustafina and gymnastics are taking a break.

Not a Ross and Rachel break, but possibly, overdue and well deserved extended vacation. Maybe...

According to the Couch Gymnast, a post came across Aliya's VK fan page about the possibility of her taking a break.  Ksenia Semenova, Aliya's friend and former teammate stated Aliya is taking a break to get ready for Worlds, which will be held in Nanning, China. According to WO Gymnastika, Ksenia allegedly said on her own VK page that the past year had been tough on Aliya, even tougher than the Olympic year...

Nothing seems to be set in stone. It's really unclear what's actually happening... Especially since the gymternet is notorious for spreading rumors like wildfire. The only thing that is certain is uncertainty...

A small break or an extended vacay could do Aliya good... Last year, Aliya was all over the place, competing nearly wherever and whenever she could. She scores two gold medals at the European Championships in the all-around and on the uneven bars. At the University Gamea, she scored three golds, and a silver medal on the balance beam. At the World Championships in Antwerp, she came home with an all - around bronze and a bronze on the uneven bars and a gold medal on the beam.

Since this is a gymnastics blog, this article will focus on bad asses in the sport of gymnastics, particularly women in gymnastics. These women are tough for their perseverance, their bravery, and just generally being awesome.
