Aliya Mustafina Will Miss Russian Championships

Aliya Mustafina said today in a live VK chat with her fans that she will miss the Russian Championships this year.

Aliya, who recently took a break to study for her final exams said she's passing the Russian Championships up presumably because she won't have enough time to get ready for it. Instead, she's hoping to be able to make the Euros and World's teams.

Last year, Aliya won the all-around and uneven bars titles at the European Championships in Moscow. At the World Championships in Antwerp, Aliya held the Russian women up with two bronze medals in the all around and the uneven bars, and came home with a balance beam gold.

Queen Elizabeth of Rewriting Russian Gymnastics has posted a wonderful summary of the chat on her Facebook page.

Of course if you want more information on what was said in the chat, you can visit Aliya's fan community on VK.

The European Championships will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria May 12-18 and the World Championships, to be held in Nanning, China will take place Oct. 3 - 12.
