Afan Doing Floor At Euros? News to Me, She Says

Apparently, the news that defending European Floor Champion, Ksenia Afanasyeva would be attending Euros was news to her.

Recently, Russian head coach and outspoken blabber mouth, Valentina Rodionenko gave an interview to ITAR-ITASS in which she said Ksenia is preparing for the European Championships this May. Ksenia apparently had no idea.

While she had some downtime, she decided to go online and check out what was going on on VK (Russian Facebook). She found a link to the article and was surprised by the interview. She commented on the link to clear up the rumors.

“Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t prepare floor exercise in time for Euros! Maybe I’ll do vault, but it’s not for sure! I’m shocked by this interview. I’m pleased that they expect me to do so well, but… she shouldn’t have said such loud' words."

The moral of this story: tell Afan she's competing before you say it in the national media.

These women are tough for their perseverance, their bravery, and just generally being awesome.
