Keeping Up With the Round Lake Gymnasts- Knee Surgeries and Kidney Infections

The Russian team can't seem to catch a break.

According to Rewriting Russian Gymnastics, just a couple of weeks after she withdrew from the world's team, Aliya Mustafina is going to need surgery on her knee.

This is per Russian head honcho, Valentina Rodionenko  All that's known is she is going to attend the World Championships as a "guest of honor" and she's going to fly to Germany and have her surgery after worlds.

Really?

REALLY?!

It's time for that girl to just frickin' move to Germany and compete for the Germans instead of Russia. She's been there so damn much for surgeries, the cost of airfare is probably getting pretty pricey.

To add insult to injury, Valentina also stated that Ksenia Afanasyeva has been dealing with health problems of her own. More specifically, a kidney infection. It's not known whether or not she'll actually complete.

For now, the team is:

Viktoria Komova
Maria Kharenkova
Maria Paseka
Seda Tutkhalyan
Daria Spiridonova
Ksenia Afanasyeva -for the time being
Evgenia Shelgunova

Per Stadium.ru, Seda, Daria and Maria Kharenkova will likely compete all-around.

Gymnastics Biggest Bad-Asses

While listening to a podcast about badass people (nearly all of whom were men), I decided it was time to celebrate the badass-ness of women. Since this is a gymnastics blog, this article will focus on bad asses in the sport of gymnastics, particularly women in gymnastics. These women are tough for their perseverance, their bravery, and just generally being awesome.
