Oklahoma @ Cal Live Blog

Welcome back!

Tonight, I'm following the Oklahoma at Cal meet. It's the last meet of the regular season before Conference Championships for these two teams.

I haven't been able to watch Oklahoma too much this season because Comcast doesn't carry the channel the Sooners are broadcast!

Anyways, refresh the page every few minutes for updates.

Per Jim Watson of the Pac-12 Network, Maggie Nichols will only be on bars and beam because she is nursing a sore knee.

For the first rotation - Oklahoma will be on bars and Cal will start on vault.

Alicia Gallarzo Cal VT - Y 1/2, over rotates and takes some big bounding steps out. 9.75

Chayse Capps Oklahoma Bars -  giant 1/1 + tkatchev,  bail, some leg seps on the handstand, short on the last handstand, full in, stuck.9.875

Amber Takara Cal VT - Y full, hop back. 9.8

Stefani Catour Oklahoma bars -  ray,  toe on, bail, nice hs,  solid last hs, clean landing on dismount. 9.9

Mariah Peterson Cal -FTY, very clean, nice amplitude.just a slide back a bit on landing 9.85

McKenzie Woffard UB Oklahoma -  giant 1/1 + giant 1/2 + jaeger, gorgeous bail, maybe a teeny tiny bit short on that last hs, full in, small hop, but beautiful form. Text book 9.85 (that score is CRIMINAL! That was beautiful! She should have gotten higher, IMO)

Rachel Mastrangelo  Cal - FTY, clean, small hop

Maggie Nichols Oklahoma -  ray, pak, leg seps, shap 1/2 DLO to finish, stuck. 9.9

Second rotation - Cal goes to bars, Oklahoma is on vault.

Definitely impressed with Cal's variety of vaults, not just a sea of Yurchenko fulls until the end of time.

Scores for the first rotation
Oklahoma 49.425
Cal 49.175

While we're waiting for touch warm up to finish, Pac-12 network treats us to some Maggie fluff.

Maddie Desch Retires From Elite

Yesterday, US gymnast Maddie Desch announced her retirement from elite gymnastics via her Instagram account.

Maddie, who trains at Great American Gymnastics Express, aka "GAGE" explained she came to the decision to retire due to a nagging injury that prevented her from training at the elite level.

I love NCAA gymnastics.

Katelyn Ohashi Sets the Rumors Straight

American Cup winner Katelyn Ohashi has been out of competition for a while due to injuries.

Since she won the American Cup in March, she's been largely absent from the USA Gymnastics scene. In April, she turned down international assignments at the City of Jesolo Cup because she was recovering from shoulder surgery. She was absent from the national championships in August, presumably for the same reason.
