P&G Championships Day 2 - Seniors Live Blog

Ok, it's time for the final session of the P&G Championships. The senior women. After night one, Ragan Smith was leading by 1.3 points over Riley McCusker. She's got a comfortable lead, so she really just has to stay the course and keep hitting and she'll probably win. Night one was a bit of a splat-fest for the seniors, so it will be most interesting to see if they've gotten it together for night two. So come on in and keep refreshing the page every 10 minutes or so for all the good stuff.

A Super Brief Preview of the Juniors at P&G Championships

Here’s a brief, last minute preview of the junior competition of the P&G Championships. There’s still quite a large field of juniors (see the roster), but it’s still less than the what felt like hundreds of them at Classics. Here’s a few names to follow –

A Brief P&G Champs Preview

It’s that time of year again where all the elites go to the P&G National championships to allegedly compete to be national champion, but really go there and try and impress the selection committee to make a world’s team.

P&G Championships Live Blog - Seniors Day 2

The last day of the women's P&G Gymnastics Championships are upon us. Tonight, the national champion will be crowned and the national team will be named. Most importantly, we will know who will advance to Trials in two weeks in San Jose. Here are some notes from night one - Simone Biles is currently the leader (I know HUGE surprise- and I mean that very sarcastically), leading with a ginormous 62.9. She's basically got a healthy two point plus lead over current second place holders, Aly Raisman and Laurie Hernandez who are both holding steady with a solid 60.450. Laurie has been cool has a cucumber this whole competition. Her coach, Maggie Haney I assume is a follower of the KJ Kindler/Oklahoma philosophy of competition (Basically, don't worry about anything else besides what you can control). It's working so far, Laurie is making a stellar senior debut and she's definitely making a name for herself for a spot on that Rio team. Plus, you gotta love t...

P&G Champs Jrs Day 2 Live Blog

I'm back for another exciting round of live-blogging. This time, I'm live-blogging day two of the juniors. I couldn't do day 1 so easily since I was at work and work was super busy that day. Anyways, enough about me, it's time for gymnastics. Since Jordan Chiles had withdrawn from P&Gs a couple days ago and we had some prominent juniors move up, we've seen some interesting action on the floor. Mailie O'Keefe is the day one leader. Can she keep up her lead? Refresh the page every 10 minutes or so to find out!

P&G Championships Full Recap - Simone Wins Again, Kyla Claws to Second

After two full days of competition at the P&G Championships, Simone Biles successfully defended her national title and Maggie Nichols proved that she is one of the top gymnasts in the US. On the Juniors side, Jazmyn Foberg took her first national all-around title after taking an early lead on night one, stealthily hitting 8 for 8 routines while her competitors had mistakes. A huge feat, especially considering this was her first nationals ever.

Peyton Ernst Withdraws From P&G Championships

Just days after Bailie Key withdrew from the P&G Championships, Peyton Ernst has withdrawn from the competition as well. Per the Gymter.net, the 17-year-old has been dealing with a minor, but nagging injury. However, her worlds chances aren't done just yet, she could still petition to the selection camp which will follow Championships.

Championships Preview! Who Will Come Out on Top?

Nationals are almost here! As USA Gymnastics so blatantly put it, it's like Christmastime for gymnastics fans. Two years out from the Olympics and the competition is just getting more fierce. This year, the world championships will have a team competition so there will be more places to compete for. So who is in and who is out? Who will prosper and who will falter? The Seniors:

Bailie Key Is Out of P&G Championships

Bailie Key will be unable to defend her national title this year since she has pulled out due to an elbow injury. Bailie, aka Miss I-win-everything-all-the-time was also absent at the Secret Classic last week due to the same injury.  Her coaches, 1991 World Champion Kim Zmeskal and her husband, Chris Burdette announced Bailie's forfeiture via the Texas Dreams website earlier today.

Simone Biles' Stuck Full In Off Beam

Simone Biles' senior debut was marked with a national championship win and an all-around world championship title. The following GIF from last year's P&G Championships shows Simone's dismount off the beam. Simone's full in dismount is so clean that she is in line with the beam from the start of the series to the end.
